Gene's Plan for Lincoln
Grow Lincoln – New Jobs with Good Wages and Benefits:
The number one priority of city government in this economic downturn should be the creation of new jobs and recruiting new businesses to come here. My experience on the Planning Commission, as a Business Owner and as a certified city planner will bring a fresh perspective to the City Council and an intense focus on growing our community, our neighborhoods and more importantly our economy.
Protect Families – Prioritize Police and Fire in the City Budget:
While the City of Lincoln faces lean times, I'm committed to prioritizing the health and safety of Lincoln residents. In these tough times, we must make sure that our fire fighters and our police are the top priority in the City Budget. We can't sacrifice the health and safety of any Lincoln resident because of tough economic times and I will fight to make sure our Police and Fire Department have the resources they need.
Road Construction – Without Raising Taxes:
In order to grow and create new jobs Lincoln must find new innovative ways to complete road construction to provide for the creation of new residential and retail developments. We need a new way to finance road construction without raising property taxes and I'm committed to solving this problem that is impeding our growth. I'll bring my experience in residential and commercial development and my education in planning to make sure Lincoln finds a way to build the roads we need to get our economy moving.
A City Council We Can Be Proud of – Working with Mayor Beutler to Move Forward:
Above all I will focus on my ability to work with Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike while bringing a fresh perspective to a council that has lost the trust of Lincoln residents. Now more than ever we need an attitude on the City Council that works to solve problems, build consensus to move our community forward. My work on the Planning Commission has taught me the skills necessary to work with many different people of different perspectives.
