Release: Eugene Carroll Announces Candidacy for Lincoln City Council
LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln Businessman and Chairperson of the Lincoln – Lancaster County Planning Commission Gene Carroll announced his candidacy for the Lincoln City Council today saying that he would bring a combination of experience, professionalism, dedication, energy and passion to the City Council.
“The number one priority of city government in this economic downturn should be the creation of new jobs. My experience on the Planning Commission and as a certified city planner, along with being a small business owner, will bring a fresh perspective to the City Council and an intense focus on growing our community, our neighborhoods and more importantly our economy”, said Carroll.
While the City of Lincoln faces lean times, Carroll is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of Lincoln residents. “In these tough times, we must make sure that our fire fighters and our police are the top priority in the City Budget. We can’t sacrifice the health and safety of any Lincoln resident because of severe economic times and I will fight to make sure our Police and Fire Department have the resources they need”, said Carroll.
Carroll also emphasized that in order to grow and create new jobs Lincoln must find new innovative ways to provide services that are essential to sustain our growth and business development. “We’ve fallen behind significantly in infrastructure construction and it is hurting our ability to develop new neighborhoods and centers of retail and economic development. We need a new way to finance road construction without raising property taxes and I’m committed to solving this problem as it is impeding our growth” said Carroll. “I’ll bring my experience in residential and commercial development and my education in planning to make sure Lincoln finds a way to build the infrastructure we need to get our economy moving.”
